National Volunteer Week: Be Inspired and Get Involved

National Volunteer Week 2014

It’s National Volunteer Week and it’s the perfect opportunity to get out and get involved.

Each day this week, we will share ways to get involved. We’ll also offer up a volunteer challenge, with fun yet meaningful options: from playing games online to help feed the hungry to going outside and planting a tree. Each will give you the chance to make an impact, each and every day.

Want more reasons to get involved? Check out this top-10 list reasons to volunteer.

Impact Your Community—Help Locally

Your local community is a great place to start making an impact. Challenge yourself to help in ways that you may never have had the opportunity before, like stocking shelves at the food shelf or helping out at the library. There are so many small ways to make a big difference.

One great resource is Volunteermatch, which connects you with opportunities in nearly every community. Enter your city, state or ZIP code in the ‘what do you care about in…’ portion and watch your “get involved” options appear.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be a formal volunteering organization: helping a neighbor with yard work or delivering meals someone in need counts too. What matters is that you are helping your community out, big or small—it all adds up.
